I've been a journalist for 20 years and spend most of my time writing about business, accountancy and finance and management issues. I spend a significant amount of my time working as Online Editor of ICAEW Insights, news, features and interviews for members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales at www.icaew.com/insights.

I started my career on a monthly IT magazine for finance directors/CFOs called Computers & Finance. In 1998 I moved to Computing where I edited the skills section of the magazine and focused on careers and skills issues for IT professionals. I was also a champion for the women in IT cause. I subsequently was appointed management editor across technology titles published by VNU including Computing, IT Week, CRN and Computeractive.

I made the move into financial journalism in January 2004 as features editor of Accountancy Age. I spent six years on the title, latterly working as digital programmes editor, responsible for sourcing content and spokespeople for webseminars, podcasts and Accountancy Age TV, and hosting web events.

I love turning subjects deemed "dull" by the masses into entertaining and authoritative pieces. I have been shortlisted twice for the MCA/Management Today management writing awards, and in 2005 was awarded a Gold Award from US body TABPI (Trade, Association and Business Publications International).

Over the years I have forged great contacts with those at the highest echelons of business, and profiled C-level executives at some of the UK's biggest corporations. My main areas of interest are accountancy regulation, financial reporting, corporate governance, management issues, skills and career development, technology and sustainable business.

I write regularly across the accountancy press, including Accountancy, Accountancy Age, Accounting & Business, economia, Public Finance and The CA. I also keep my hand in on technology issues as a contributor to Computing, The Register and other IT titles as well as writing about technology for the accountancy press.

I have a degree in French and German with European Studies from Bath University. Outside of work, I'm a part time sheep farmer, lapsed musician (flute and piano, alumni of the Royal Collage of Music junior department), novice knitter and mother of three children.
